La Dame Ovale
La Dame Ovale
2019
'La Dame Ovale' is named after Leonora Carrington's 1939 collection of Surrealist stories illustrated by Max Ernst, and marks its 80th anniversary. Its circular shape holds a central stone referring to a woman's womb or pregnancy. The spanish word for donut is 'doña' which also happens to be (one accent away) the same word for woman, 'dona'.
