Split Pillar
Split Pillar
2019
‘Split Pillar’ is a two-part piece inspired by the columns found on the pre-Hispanic sites of Chichen Itza and Monte Alban, Mexico. There, pillars hold an anthropomorphic, and even sacred presence, as if holding energy from within their core. In ‘Split Pillar’, the space in between each half-column invites the human body in its centre. Like a skin, the sculpture envelopes and protects the body.
